  • The headline doesn't work for the current Apple. I'd say they were riding pretty high right now, and I'm not high on cool aid or in a RDF fog. Just look at the stock price, retail store performance and of course the product line. If Apple is getting a bad rap it's from competitors not able to keep up, or writers that don't know from shinola.

Why is Apple Getting a Bad Rap?
  • “Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.” "Skate to where the puck is going to be" – Steve Jobs, Apple Computer co-founder and chief executive

How iTunes is Paving the Way For Switchers
  • LG could be accused of ripping-off all the next generation widescreen iPod Photoshop mock-ups we've all been seeing posted on Mac fan/rumor sites since the video update to the current iPod design. Afterall, the iPhone is when you think about it, a juiced-up next generation iPod.

    The iPhone Lawsuits
  • WAWA, The author states "Imagine being able to run PhotoShop from your phone (thin client)." I'd rather not. I've been using Photoshop since its release, at that time on a Mac SE, not a great experience. As a daily user of Photoshop, currently at CS2, I can't imagine it being a satisfying or productive experience on a phone, even something as graphically advanced as the iphone. Sending an e-mail, writing a novel, even cruising the web, okay. Extensive editing on an 11x17 photo, that's a stretch.

The End of the Operating Systems War
  • You mean I've been working all these years building up to bigger and better monitors to run ever more powerful versions of Photoshop and its host of tool palettes properly, and now I'm being asked to imagine running it on my phone? Time to retire.

The End of the Operating Systems War
  • Talking about Xerox, how stupid were they? PARC developed the GUI, mouse, Postscript, and Eithernet, which they never marketed.

    What the World Owes Microsoft
  • The guys that ran Apple at that time, Scully & Co., were pretty arrogant and short-sighted. How long did they think those 400% mark-ups would last. Apple's "Think Different" campaign could have helped that crew.

    What the World Owes Microsoft
  • If someone wants to buy a "cheap" laptop from Apple but still have a "quality" machine, they should buy a refurbished or used laptop. They still run fine, will last for years, and can be several hundred dollars less than a new one, depending on the model. I'm still using a 500mhz Titanium G4 PowerBook, maxed RAM, running Panther, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., very effectively.

Is There Room for a Really Cheap Mac?
  • Microsoft products always look good until you have to actually use them. For me, I could care less. I don't follow MTV, never have. As for Windows Media Player, I'm on a Mac(3), I use iPods(3). The M&M boys are offering nothing that interests me.

Microsoft and MTV Gang Up on Apple's iTunes and iPods
  • I'm still waitng for the price of CDs to come down. The recording industry made that promise years ago. Do you really think anyone believes they give a hoot about the artists' cut?

    iTunes Pricing Round 2
  • I think the release and implementation of "Boot Camp" as a standalone now, and as part of Leopard when it's released should present a third scenerio.

What will Apple look like by 2010?
  • We already have it up and running on a recently purchased MacBookPro in our department. XP flies on it. In one simple software intall, our department has the fastest windows computer in the organization.
  • Look for the addition of glossy black (as in iPods) to the line-up.

Does the Mac Lineup Need a Makeover?
  • "At least Microsoft make versions of their software for Apple computers." Luke, Last time I checked, iTunes was available for Windows and Mac. I can't say the same for "Plays for Sure."

Has Apple Finally Become a Monopoly Like Microsoft?
  • The computer magazines have gotten too expensive. They expect you to pay close to $10 for the mag just because they bundled a cd full of stuff that can be downloaded from the web. They may longer do the cd bundling, I wouldn't know, I no longer buy magazines.
